The Plaza Machado and Centro Histórico were out favorites.
The Plaza Machado and Centro Histórico were out favorites. We love watching students at the music school and strolling the streets. The monthly art walk is great. It’s a genuine Mexican city with beaches. What could be better?

There were a few nice beaches and the market in old mazatlan was great. Buses were easy to get on and off and a good price.
Golden zone smells like sewage. It is busy and hardly anyone that can speak English. So loud!! It is over populated and filthy. Definitely would not recommend golden zone or the malecon. The beaches along the malecon and golden zone are gross!!! One little section in front of the marriot that is ok, otherwise run!! Best beaches are at emerald bay, deer island (grab a boat in front of holiday inn for 150 pesos return) and stone island (get a boat at the old marina for 35 pesos return)
If you want to shop, avoid the malls, Malecon and golden zone. Everything you could want is in old mazatlan and at way better prices. Research cab fares before you go. One will charge 300 and the next 800. Download uber so you have a back up way to get around.
Have fun, explore the small towns around. Glad we went, but won't go back!

Lovely beach and beautiful water.
Lovely beach and beautiful water. You can walk down the sand for a long ways. North of the Marina is quieter than the golden zone area. There are many hotels and restaurants. A bit cooler than Puerto Vallarta

Unlike other beach towns like Cancun, Mazatlan is a real town. It has lots of good seafood restaurants with reasonable prices. You can walk the Main Street where there are many shops and restaurants. Also the malecón (seaside drive/walk) is beautiful. If you venture into downtown there are many things to see like Plazuela Machada which is an old colonial style plaza with shops, restaurants and museums. Getting around is easy and inexpensive on the pulmonias (open air taxi). And the beaches are warm and nice. Compared to other Mexican beach towns Mazatlan has plenty to offer and the prices are reasonable.
I had the perfect stay at Brujas Tower in Mazatlán! The apartment complex is located right by the sea and the peaceful surroundings really allowed me to relax. The pools were a great place to unwind and the amenities in the apartment were excellent. My stay exceeded all of my expectations and everything went flawlessly. The location is perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation by the beach. I highly recommend Brujas Tower for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Mazatlán.
The hotel is a block away from the beach and walking distance to many excellent restaurants. It is on a main street which makes it easy to take the bus or find other transportation. The price made it a terrific value. The staff was friendly and professional. Checking in and out was very easy. It helps if you know a bit of Spanish, but you can use a translate utility on your phone to make it work. The hotel is clean and stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and towels.
Mazatlán is beautiful! Nice hotel with beach front. We stayed in one of the junior suites that were quite big and with decent view to the beach. The bathroom was big and the staff friendly. The location was good in one if the best areas of Mazatlán according to people we talked to and with restaurants and bars close by (although not a shirt walk to the city center). The city felt safe at all times!
The apartment exceeded my expectations and looks even more beautiful in person. The apartment is tastefully decorated, modern, and walking distance to Centro. The owner was helpful and readily available along with providing excellent dining recommendations. I will definitely try to book this apartment again the next time I am in Mazatlan. Definitely 5 stars!!!
This location offers some of the best view in Mazatlan. Not only the view of the malecon, but also the view of the port. The sun rise and cruises coming into port in the morning. Our unit was clean and spacious. It was nice to get a bottle of 20 liters of water at the start of your vacation. Talking directly with Pablo (owner)it was refreshing to see.
The hotel is an old classic right on Olas Altas beach in Mazatlán. I was received badly there in 2017 but decided to go back because of the location and price. This time, we did get the ocean view room we reserved and the view was marvellous. The room itself is rather plain but passable.
We were at Villa Serena and the staff were very friendly and the guests as well, we meet a very nice people. We enjoyed a lot the location close to many great amenities, we walked everywhere and enjoyed a lot the colonial style of the area.
The Hotel is beautiful design.
Most terrible hotel in mazatlan, broken tiles at entrance all 1st floor, room bathroom totally outdated, rusted sinks, broken tiles in shower, discussed overall, food was terrible, it needs to be remodeled completely. Then it’ll be a badass hotel otherwise it sucks !
It is well located, next to the beach, it has a lot of facilities if it is what are you looking for. The staff was helpful and nice. For Mazatlan I believe it’s one of the best places to stay when it comes to value for the price.
