A charming and lively town that was originally founded by Portuguese settlers. We visited in late march 2024. There were hordes of mosquitoes everywhere so it was very annoying. Apart from that it was a short pleasant visit.

Colonia is oversold as a place to spend time and chill out.
Colonia is oversold as a place to spend time and chill out. One day is enough to see the main sights. Uruguay is expensive and Colonia, for all its charm, feels like a tourist trap. Twice, we ate at establishments that had boldly signed food specials that somehow didn’t apply to us, even after checking with the server.

For me, Colonia is a one-night stay, or two nights maximum, if you are staying in a nice hotel with amenities or if you are planning on visiting a winery or taking a day trip from Colonia. The historical center is the only thing worth visiting, and you can probably walk it all in a day. It is VERY picturesque, the ultimate instagrammable old town, and has many good restaurants.

Beautiful outdoor pool in atractive and well-cared for garden. Very Very Very good outdoor pool in beautiful and well cared-for garden. Very good indoor pool.
Staff were helpful and ready to offer solutiions if needed. Friendly ambiance.
Rooms in the tower are spacious and confortable. Good sized bathroom, although being elderly we missed security bars in the bathtub.
Nice breakfast especially for sweet tooths. Food was very good at the restaurant but not cheap. It was disappointing the lack of flexibilitty to have food and refreshmente at tea time and no availabilitt of the nice pastries at mid afternoon.
Very relaxing and lovely place for a longer stay.

This place was great for a few relaxing days. It's very close to the beach, 10 minutes to walk. There you have a few restaurants withch were cheaper then the city. Also at 2 minutes away from the accommodation you can find some supermarkets and the bus station withch take you to the city center in less then 10 minutes and the ticket cost me 35 Uruguay pesos.
Ther room was well equipped and Luchi was a very nice host. Luchi and his wife were very friendly and helpful. It was a very pleasant experience
Well positioned hotel with a small number of rooms arranged around a courtyard. Lovely room with a huge bed and great shower. Breakfast was lovely (although it was a bit slow for items to be replenished). Close to restaurants and shops and we took the recommendation to book dinner at the sister restaurant, Charco, which did not disappoint. We were only in Colonia for one night but hope to return and would definitely book to stay here again.
The location is right in the heart of Colonia del Sacramento, just 5 mins walking distance to everything nearby. The staff were very friendly. The room was nice with a powerful, hot shower. The design is very cute, with an open-air courtyard patio for guests to sit around. It was very comfortable for our two-night stay.
Our stay at Las Liebres Restaurant & Hotel was exceptional, from reception to check-out. Cleanliness, comfort, facilities, food were absolutely amazing. High standing restaurant. We didn’t have the need to go out for a fine dining experience… Las libres Hotel has everything you want and more!
We loved the overall service and especially the free bikes :) we were able to leave our luggage after checking out and still use the bikes during the day, which was awesome :) also the location is perfect and the hotel itself beautiful! We would definitely come again :)
The location was very good and close to restaurants and sites. The hotel was just a few blocks from the ferry ports and bus station and were an easy walk. The room was nice and clean and the staff were very nice and accommodating.
The location was fabulous, easy to get to all the sights. The staff were all lovely and kind. The breakfast was wonderful (dinner too, make sure to eat here). The room and hotel were even nicer in person than in the photos online.
Very nice atmosphere, clean bedrooms, comfortable king bed. Quiet room near the lighthouse. Be aware that Uruguay is very expensive to visit, so prepare the wallet for a nice breakfast ouside this hotel (1 block away )
Large hotel on the edge of the historical area. About 5 to 10 minute walk to port one way and historical area the other. Simple clean room with air conditioning n small bathroom. Lovely pool area and not too busy
This hotel is in a lovely old building with a central patio. Loved the room and the bed was very comfortable. Great breakfast in the morning, Highly recommend.
The breaKFAST WAS GOOD, PLENTY OF CHOICES, THEY HAD CROISSANTS, FRUITS, SANDWICH AND OTHER TYPE OF FOOD. THE HOTEL ROOM WAS BIGGER THAN I THOUGHT. A HUGE BALCONY.
Charming and cozy. Slept like a baby! The staff is wonderful and the location perfect. Didnt spent too long in the hotel, but the time i was there was great/
The rooms were spacious and well equipped. The location is nearly perfect, and the views are spectacular. We did not use the pool or other hotel facilities
