Burt's Hotel, hotel in Kelso

With a town center location on Market Square, Burt’s Hotel in Melrose offers individually styled rooms with free parking and Wi-Fi, along with an AA Rosette-winning restaurant.

This hotel is well established and long running and you feel it here. A warm and welcome feeling upon arrival persisted throughout our four day/three night stay. We had dinner twice in the main dining room which is more formal than the pub atmosphere around the bar. The food was delicious and the white table cloth service flawless. Breakfasts in the pub area—included in our rate—were also first rate and, again, with service to match. We’d make a point of staying here again.

    The hosts were really helpful.

The hosts were really helpful. We wanted an impromptu barbecue and they kindly facilitated this. The laundry area/ boot room was very spacious with plenty of room for wellies and wet weather gear, as well as drying and washing facilities.

We ate at The Cobbles and also The Cross Keys. We had a takeaway from the Chinese in Kelso. All Good and enjoyable. Kelso is compact and all on the flat. We used it as a base to visit other places in the Borders.

The history is all within walking distance. it has enough going on but like all towns since COVID, there are hopes closed that may never open again. the bus is regular so you can relax and watch the very beautiful scenery while having visits to other towns.

It was a very nice apartment on two floors.

It was a very nice apartment on two floors. Steep stairs up to both floors but apart from that very nice indeed and would highly recommend. We were visiting my sister who lives up the street from the Bakehouse so the recommendations below are not applicable as it was Christmas and all was closed.

A lovely little area with some amenities round about.

A lovely little area with some amenities round about. From our hotel in Roxburgh it took 5 minutes in a taxi to the town square. The town itself has everything you need Greg’s, chemist, co-op, coffee shops, antique stores, few pubs. So you can definitely spend a few hours toddling about. There is also a castle about another 2/3 minutes drive by. But do check the website for seasonal opening times. For great wholesome food I’d definitely recommended cobbles inn. You’ll probably have to book a table so be prepared, it’s a busy little place.

Easy to find and the location was perfect in town center. Parking was a breeze and easy to drive in and out of the housing area. Close walk to pubs and other stores. Comfortable beds and couch in a beautifully arranged house. The large Samsung smart TV in the living room/kitchen area was perfect size to watch streamed movies. Communication with the housing agency was quick via emails and Booking.com messages.

The bedroom was extremely comprehensively equipped (bottles of water, tea & coffee, hairdryer, tissues, fan). Great views over town centre & Kelso from this attic room 5. Close to restaurants, cafes, shops. Easy walk to Riverside Walk & ruined Abbey. Kelso is a beautiful town and the hotel is very well located at the centre of it. Very friendly staff. Great free car parking opposite hotel - see photo.

Graham was a very welcoming, friendly and attentive host. Bellevue Guest House is conveniently situated just a short stroll away from Kelso town centre. There is private parking behind the house. The rooms were very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was outstanding, using local produce, and by far the best I've ever had. We can't wait to go back again.

I rated this hotel exceptional due to the quality of the evening meal and the hotel gardens with the view of the river Tweed. Very romantic. I was travelling south after a holiday in the highlands and stopped over in Kelso and the hotel was chosen for its location, it didnt disappoint. The evening meal was included and was great, if somewhat old fashioned,

The location can't be beat, and the apartment is more spacious than I had pictured. My 9-year old and I stayed and found the apartment to be perfectly equipped with an oven, toaster, stove/hob, washer, fridge, and freezer. The hosts were fantastic and responsive.

Breakfast was excellent. I have known the hotel for 40 years, and came here when it was a pub. The building is very old, and hope that the old fire back inscribed Charles 2nd is still there, a piece of kelso history.
